Meet Elton Mckinney

Farmer, Crooked Island

Mr. Elton McKinney embarked on a farming venture driven by the recognition of the imperative for a local source of fresh vegetables, particularly during periods when the island is isolated from mailboat deliveries. Over the past decade, he has diligently cultivated his farm, situated in the serene settlement of Landrail Point, Crooked Island, employing manual labor to construct it from the ground up.

His agricultural endeavors are directed towards supplying a diverse range of produce, including but not limited to sweet peppers, pineapples, broccoli, okra, tomatoes, goat peppers, cabbage, beets, sweet potatoes, watermelon, sugar apples, and various other crops. Mr. McKinney’s clientele extends to local restaurant proprietors, sail boaters, the surrounding community, Acklins Island, and occasionally even shipments to New Providence. Beyond his commercial pursuits, he is committed to disseminating knowledge about farming and its paramount significance.
